
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a pump-action gun along with other dangerous weapons during a routine stop-and-search operation.
The suspects, identified as Ugo Chukwu Kendirim (25) and Odo Jude (27), were apprehended on May 27, 2026, by officers of the Department of Operations (DOPS) Buffalo Team stationed at the Second Niger Bridge.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects were intercepted while traveling in an unregistered blue Hijet Cargo mini bus from Anambra State into Delta State.
Edafe disclosed that the suspects initially attempted to obstruct the officers from conducting a search and even threatened to record the operation. Despite the resistance, the police maintained professionalism and proceeded with a thorough inspection of the vehicle.

The search led to the recovery of a pump-action gun loaded with a live cartridge, as well as two daggers and other incriminating items.
“The Delta State Police Command has recorded another operational success with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a pump-action gun, a live cartridge, and other exhibits,” Edafe stated.
He added that the suspects are currently in custody while preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the weapons and any possible links to criminal activities.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining proactive operations aimed at ensuring public safety and combating crime across the state.
