
The Cross River State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a woman, identified as Blessing Ayebe, whose body was discovered in a church toilet in Calabar.
According to reports, the deceased was found around 9:00 p.m. on Monday in the toilet facility of a church located in the Ikot Ansa area of Calabar Municipality.
The discovery followed concerns raised by her family after she was reported missing.
It was gathered that Ayebe had attended a church service on Saturday, June 28, but did not return home afterward.

Her daughter, Peace Ayebe, formally reported her disappearance at the Federal Housing Police Station on Tuesday, July 1, after being informed by her brother, Saviour Ayebe.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, stated that an investigation is currently underway.
He disclosed that the body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
“At this stage, no suspect has been identified or arrested, and there is no clear evidence of foul play.
Investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be communicated as they emerge,” Eitokpah said.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
