
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers in separate operations across Ogere and Ajuwon areas of the state, recovering stolen vehicles and other items.
The suspects, identified as Abdulsalam Adam and Israel Salako, were apprehended following coordinated security interventions involving police operatives, local vigilantes, and the Ogun State Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Abdulsalam Adam was arrested on July 3, 2026, in connection with an armed robbery incident at Akuro Phase 1 in Ogere Remo.
The suspect and his accomplices reportedly invaded a residence, dispossessing occupants of two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.
Babaseyi disclosed that through strategic deployment and swift response, security operatives forced the suspects to abandon the stolen motorcycles while attempting to flee into a nearby bush.
Adam was subsequently arrested and is currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations. Items recovered at the scene include a knife, an expended cartridge, and a broken padlock.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.

In a related development, operatives of the Ajuwon Division arrested Israel Salako following a distress call reporting a robbery incident at Baale Akinosi area.
The suspects allegedly carted away valuables including mobile phones, jewellery, power banks, a laptop, and a Toyota Camry.
Police operatives swiftly mobilised to the scene, prompting the suspects to abandon the stolen vehicle and flee.
Salako was arrested during the operation and is assisting investigators, while efforts continue to recover other stolen items and apprehend remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has intensified enforcement against traffic violations. The command revealed that 89 vehicles were intercepted, with their drivers sanctioned for number plate violations and other traffic-related offences, in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police.
Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, urged motorists to comply with vehicle registration regulations and advised residents to remain vigilant.
He warned against boarding unregistered or unbranded vehicles and encouraged the public to share travel details with trusted contacts for safety.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
