The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested five suspects and recovered substances suspected to be hard drugs during a clearance operation across mountainous areas of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The operation forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts, flush out suspected criminal elements and strengthen security across the state.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, the operation involved personnel of the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, conventional police officers and tactical teams.
The security operation covered Tudun Hawa Uku, Kurmin Gogo, Rafin Ayaba and adjoining areas, including connecting trails within the designated operational corridor.
Nansel disclosed that five suspects were arrested during the exercise, while substances suspected to be hard drugs, including ice, alongside related paraphernalia, were recovered as exhibits.
He added that the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish their alleged involvement in criminal activities and determine whether they have links to other criminal networks.
