The Borno State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man, identified as Muhammed Bukar, and recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla LE containing cash and pharmaceutical products worth millions of naira.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the police, the incident followed a complaint by a pharmacist, Abdulwahab Muhammed, who reported that his Toyota Corolla LE was stolen on October 16, 2026, along Muna Road in Maiduguri.
The complainant reportedly parked the vehicle to observe prayers but discovered upon his return that it had been taken away.
The police said the vehicle contained a Redmi tablet, ₦230,000, $200, an ATM card and assorted pharmaceutical products valued at approximately ₦3.3 million.
Following the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, directed operatives of the Violence Crime Response Unit, also known as the Crack Squad, to investigate the incident.
The investigation led to the arrest of Bukar, who was reportedly found in possession of the stolen vehicle and its contents.
During preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly confessed to using another key to open and steal the vehicle.
The police said the recovered car and other exhibits remained in their custody as investigations continued.
