Students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, have announced plans to protest at the headquarters of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on Wednesday over a prolonged power outage affecting the university community.
The planned peaceful demonstration is expected to take place at the electricity company’s headquarters in Leme, as students demand explanations and urgent action to restore electricity supply.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) urged students to participate in the protest, describing it as an opportunity to demand accountability and transparency from IBEDC over the persistent blackout.
In a mobilisation notice issued on November 3 and signed by the union president, Comrade Timzy, and its Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ovipour, the union said students wanted clear answers and concrete measures to address the electricity crisis.
The protest is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, with participants expected to gather at Demafas Filling Station, near the university gate, by 8:00 a.m. before proceeding to the IBEDC headquarters.

The union also appealed to students who own vehicles to assist by providing transportation for other participants.
It directed students attending the demonstration to come with their valid identity cards and maintain peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.
The SUG warned against violence and urged participants to remain orderly while communicating their concerns to the electricity distribution company.
The planned demonstration comes amid growing complaints over the prolonged electricity outage, which students say has continued to disrupt their daily activities within the university community.
