
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Saminu Ibrahim, over the alleged murder of his friend following a violent altercation in Ringim Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued in Dutse, noting that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and maintain law and order across the state.
According to the police, the incident was reported at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Preliminary findings revealed that a disagreement between two young men escalated into a physical confrontation at Dabigel Village in Ringim LGA.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed his friend in the chest with a sharp metal object locally known as “Danbuda.” The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

Police operatives swiftly apprehended the suspect, identified as a resident of Gidan Gona Village in the same local government area.
SP Shiisu stated that the case is currently under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further action.
He added that the suspect will be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction upon completion of investigations.
