Electricity supply has been disrupted in parts of Nasarawa State following the collapse of three transmission towers along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga transmission line corridor.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, explaining that the incident affected electricity supply through the 33kV outgoing feeders at the Keffi and Akwanga transmission substations.
According to the company, the incident occurred at about 4:06 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during rainy and windy conditions.
TCN said the 132kV Karu-Keffi-Akwanga single-circuit transmission line tripped after its overcurrent protection system was activated.
Investigations later revealed that three transmission towers, identified as T78, T79 and T80, had collapsed.
The company said it immediately isolated the affected line for safety reasons. Consequently, all 33kV outgoing feeders at the Keffi and Akwanga substations became unavailable.

TCN explained that its engineers were already at the site to assess the damage and determine the materials and other requirements needed to begin repair work.
The company apologised to electricity consumers receiving power from the affected substations for the disruption and inconvenience.
It assured residents that efforts were underway to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible and restore bulk electricity supply.
TCN also promised to provide further updates as restoration work progresses.
