A 55-year-old motorist has escaped without injury after a moving train collided with his Honda car at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos State.
The incident involved a train travelling towards Agege and a Honda car with registration number EKY 902 JT. The collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle, but the driver survived unharmed.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said its officials, working with security personnel, rescued the motorist and removed the damaged car from the railway track, allowing the train to continue its journey.
However, traffic congestion persisted around the PWD axis following the incident.
LASTMA said the damaged vehicle was later handed over to security personnel to support an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the officials and security personnel for their swift response and cooperation in managing the incident.
He said the coordinated efforts of the agencies demonstrated the importance of collaboration during emergencies involving railway operations and nearby roads.

Bakare-Oki urged motorists to exercise caution when approaching railway crossings and designated train routes. He warned drivers against attempting to cross railway tracks when a train was approaching or already in motion.
He stressed that ignoring railway safety regulations could result in devastating and irreversible consequences.
LASTMA also appealed to motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules and railway safety guidelines, emphasising that protecting human life must remain a priority.
The agency added that responsible driving and strict compliance with safety instructions were essential to preventing avoidable accidents.
