
Tension escalated in Plateau State as three suspected killers of a traditional ruler were set ablaze by an angry mob in Langtang North Local Government Area.
The victims were accused of being behind the murder of the traditional ruler of Kwallak community, identified as Ponzhi Kwallak, who was reportedly attacked and killed in his residence on Thursday night.
Sources revealed that the assailants invaded the monarch’s home, dispossessing him of his motorcycle, mobile phone, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.
The incident plunged the community into grief and outrage, prompting residents to launch a search for those responsible.
According to eyewitness accounts, the three suspects were later apprehended while attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle. During questioning, they allegedly admitted involvement in the crime.

However, before they could be handed over to security operatives, a group of hoodlums reportedly overpowered those guarding them, seized the suspects, and carried out mob action near the council secretariat.
A resident who spoke anonymously said some community members initially tried to ensure the suspects were handed over to authorities, but the situation quickly spiraled out of control.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command has yet to officially confirm the incident, as efforts to reach the spokesperson proved unsuccessful.
