Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has named his picks for the best players from England, Germany, Argentina, Spain, and Portugal ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
In a Q&A with FC Bayern Esports on Instagram, the France international highlighted top names from each nation while also sparking debate with one notable snub.
For England, Olise selected his Bayern teammate Harry Kane. For Germany, he went with Joshua Kimmich. When asked about Spain and Argentina, he chose Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and reigning World Cup winner Lionel Messi.

The 24-year-old declined to name a Brazilian standout, saying “I don’t know.” His most talked-about pick came for Portugal, where he chose Bruno Fernandes over Cristiano Ronaldo as the team’s best player at this moment.
Messi and Ronaldo are both preparing for what could be their final World Cup. Argentina enter as defending champions after lifting the trophy in Qatar, while Portugal will be among the sides aiming to dethrone La Albiceleste in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Olise himself will be part of France’s 26-man squad after an outstanding season with Bayern Munich. The winger scored 22 goals and provided 31 assists across all competitions, helping the club win three trophies.
