Residents of Ode-Ekiti in Ekiti State have been thrown into fear following a disturbing attack on a local farmer by suspected armed men searching for his missing brother.
The victim, Oguntuase Ademola, was reportedly assaulted on his farmland along Agbado Road on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m.
According to his account, four masked gunmen emerged from the bush, surrounded him, and repeatedly beat him with sticks while demanding information about the whereabouts of his younger brother, Oguntuase Felix.
Ademola told police that the attackers presented a photograph of Felix and threatened to kill him if he failed to disclose his location. He, however, maintained that he had not seen or heard from his brother for over four years.
The farmer explained that Felix had left Ode-Ekiti for Kaduna State in search of better opportunities and was last heard of after reportedly surviving a bandit attack. Since then, the family has lost all contact with him, with indications that he may have fled the country.

The attack left the victim with physical injuries and emotional trauma, heightening tension among residents of the farming community, who are now calling for increased security presence in the area.
The case has been reported to the Ode-Ekiti Police Division, and authorities have commenced an investigation to identify the perpetrators and uncover the motive behind the attack.
Residents have urged security agencies to intensify patrols in rural communities and ensure those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
