Big Brother Naija Lockdown winner, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, popularly known as Laycon, has shared how his victory on the reality show in 2020 played a crucial role in saving his mother’s life.
Speaking during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, the singer and rapper reflected on his journey before and after fame, explaining that his family faced serious financial and emotional challenges prior to his participation in the show.
Laycon said the prize money, exposure, and opportunities that came with winning BBNaija enabled him to provide support at a critical moment when his mother needed urgent help.
According to him, the impact of the win went beyond fame, as it significantly improved his family’s situation and gave them access to better care and stability.
“Winning BBNaija saved my mother’s life,” he said, stressing that the experience changed his outlook on life and responsibility.

The music star also noted that life after the reality show came with intense pressure, as sudden fame affected his personal identity and creative direction.
He explained that while BBNaija opened doors for him in music and entertainment, it also brought expectations that were sometimes overwhelming.
Laycon added that he received offers from film producers after the show, largely due to his popularity, though he often questioned whether those opportunities were based on talent or fame.
Despite the challenges, he said he has continued to grow as an artist by exploring music, writing, acting, and education, while trying to balance public expectations with personal development.
He concluded that although fame changed many aspects of his life, his BBNaija win ultimately transformed both his career and his family’s future.
