
Residents of Kwandawa community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State are reportedly living in fear after armed bandits demanded a ₦20 million levy and threatened to expel them from their village if the payment is not made.
The incident was disclosed on Sunday by security analyst and conflict reporter Bakatsine, who said the armed group invaded the community on Saturday night following the reported killing of one of their members.
According to him, the attackers warned residents that the community must raise ₦20 million or face forced displacement.
“Last night, bandits reportedly imposed a ₦20 million levy on residents of Kwandawa community in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State, warning that the community must pay if they wished to remain in the village,” Bakatsine stated.

He added that the demand was allegedly made in retaliation for the killing of a bandit in the area.
Beyond the levy, the attackers were also said to have gone from house to house, looting valuables, including bridal gifts and household items belonging to newly married women.
The raid reportedly extended to neighbouring villages of Tsaraka and Maturi, where similar incidents were recorded, with newlyweds also allegedly stripped of their possessions.
