The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has seized approximately 3.18 million capsules suspected to be Pregabalin during an intelligence-led operation in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by the newly inaugurated Rapid Response Squad, followed credible intelligence received through one of the task force’s reporting platforms and call centre.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary of the agency’s Media and Publicity Committee, Lamara Garba, operatives searched a residential apartment at No. 13 Apple Avenue, Normansland, Sabon Gari, where the suspected drugs were recovered.
A 34-year-old man identified as Gregory Ogbuji was arrested during the operation. He is suspected of having links to SEEMARK PHARMA LTD, while another individual allegedly connected to the operation is currently at large.
The arrested suspect has reportedly been charged under Section 249 of the Penal Code.

Reacting to the seizure, the Task Force Chairman, Muhuyi Rimin Gado, described the operation as a significant early achievement of the Rapid Response Squad, highlighting the importance of intelligence gathering and public cooperation in tackling drug trafficking.
He also raised concerns over the growing abuse of Pregabalin in Kano State, revealing that operational experience suggests that approximately eight out of every 10 drug-related operations involve individuals dependent on or abusing the substance.
The chairman warned drug traffickers and those involved in the illicit drug trade to desist, assuring residents that the task force would continue its enforcement operations without fear or favour.
He further urged members of the public to report suspected cases of drug abuse, trafficking, thuggery and other criminal activities through the task force’s reporting platforms.
