
The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Audu Garba Bosso, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of two police officers who lost their lives in a tragic road accident while on official duty.
The incident occurred on June 29, 2026, along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, involving a patrol vehicle carrying seven police operatives.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the officers were actively engaged in patrol duties when the accident happened. All seven personnel sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Tragically, two of the officers later succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment. The remaining five officers are currently responding to treatment in hospital.

CP Bosso described the incident as a painful loss to the Imo State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force at large. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased officers, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty.
He further assured that the injured officers are receiving the best possible medical care and that the command will provide all necessary welfare support to aid their recovery.
The Commissioner also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured personnel and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to supporting their families during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, the police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The identities of the deceased and injured officers have not yet been disclosed.
The Imo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to the safety and welfare of its personnel while honoring the bravery and service of those who continue to protect lives and property.
