Suspected Fulani militias have reportedly killed Rwas Paul Danladi, a former chairman of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) in Gashish District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The National President of BYM, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday.
According to Mwantiri, Danladi was attacked at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday while riding his motorcycle along the Gashish–Barkin Ladi Road on his way back to his village.
He said the incident occurred around Rantis Village, a few miles from the victim’s hometown, where the attackers allegedly shot him dead.
The association expressed sadness over the killing, describing Danladi as a respected community leader. It also extended its condolences to his family, friends and the entire Gashish community.
Meanwhile, BYM raised concerns over a social media post allegedly published shortly after the attack by Iliyasu Ibrahim Shagari, claiming that two Fulani people had been killed in Kafi Abu, also known as Rakwok, a neighbouring village.

The association disputed the claim, alleging that the post presented a misleading account of the incident and could heighten tensions between communities.
Mwantiri called on security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS), to investigate the post and establish the source of the information, how it was obtained so quickly and whether there was any deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
The group also alleged that the post was shared by several people, including Muhammad Garkuwan Fulbe, and urged authorities to examine whether the activities were part of a wider pattern of misinformation.
BYM stressed that security agencies should investigate not only those responsible for physical attacks but also the spread of potentially misleading information during violent incidents.
The association warned that misinformation on social media could worsen tensions and called for an impartial and professional investigation into the killing and the disputed claims.
