A 100-level student of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, has been allegedly stabbed to death following a violent altercation with his brother on campus.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday evening behind Hostel C of the institution, where the victim was said to have been stabbed multiple times after a fight with the suspect.
Sources revealed that the confrontation initially began inside their hostel room but later escalated outside to the bushes behind the building.
Despite sustaining severe injuries, the victim reportedly managed to crawl from the scene to a nearby walkway, where he collapsed in a pool of blood.
Students who found him quickly rushed him to the university’s Medical Centre, but he was confirmed dead on arrival due to excessive blood loss.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has been arrested. He added that further details would be made available as investigations progress.
A university official declined to comment, noting that the institution’s management is currently handling the situation.
A source within the university disclosed that a roommate had earlier intervened to separate the brothers during their initial altercation before the dispute resumed outside, leading to the fatal outcome.
The incident has sparked outrage among students, with many raising concerns over the overgrown bushes behind Hostel C, which they say could enable violent acts without immediate detection.
As of the time of filing this report, the university had yet to release an official statement on the incident, while investigations continue.
