At least four people have reportedly been killed following an attack by suspected gunmen on Sabon Angwa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Thursday evening, October 29, 2026, at approximately 7:22 p.m., when armed assailants reportedly stormed the community and opened fire on residents.
The incident happened just hours after the President of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association, lawyer Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, issued a security alert warning of suspected coordinated attacks on communities in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas.
In a statement released at about 5:19 p.m. on Thursday, Mwantiri disclosed that intelligence reports indicated that suspected armed groups were mobilising across the two local government areas, allegedly preparing to launch simultaneous attacks on several communities.
He identified Fass and Rankum (Mahanga) in Jol District of Riyom, as well as Werre (Lugere), Jong and Ruga Jalo in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi, as locations where suspected attackers had reportedly been sighted riding motorcycles.
The youth leader further listed several communities in Barkin Ladi and Riyom as potential targets, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies.

In Riyom, the listed communities included Kwi, Wereng, Vwak, Tanjol, Tashek, Byei/Kum, Rim and Gwa-Rim, among others.
Mwantiri also expressed concerns over the alleged use of drones in supporting the planned attacks, calling on security agencies to take the intelligence reports seriously and strengthen surveillance across the affected areas.
