Five students travelling from Gombe State to Lagos to secure Industrial Training (IT) placements have reportedly died in a road accident involving a GUO Logistics truck along the Ijebu–Epe Road.
The accident occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, according to a statement by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinteye Babatunde Afeez.
Afeez alleged that the truck veered out of its lane and collided with the bus carrying the students in the opposite direction, killing them instantly.
The deceased were identified as Isiyaku Sa’idu, Maigana Mohammed, popularly known as Abbati, Anas Abubakar, who was driving the bus, Zaiyanu Bajoga and Abubakar Ibrahim.
The NANS president described the incident as a painful loss, noting that the young Nigerians were travelling to Lagos in search of opportunities to complete their industrial training.
He also raised concerns over the alleged conduct of GUO Logistics representatives at the accident scene.
According to Afeez, the company’s representatives appeared more concerned about protecting its reputation than assisting the victims and their families.
He further alleged that a staff member attempted to remove or erase the company’s name from the truck following the crash.

Afeez said NANS had not received confirmation that GUO Logistics had contacted the families of the deceased or taken adequate responsibility for injured victims receiving treatment in hospital.
He expressed fears that some of the injured could be left without proper medical care.
The student leader called for a thorough investigation into the accident and demanded that anyone found responsible be held accountable.
He insisted that the deceased students’ families deserved justice, while the injured victims should receive adequate medical attention.
Afeez added that NANS would continue gathering information about the incident and announce its findings and planned actions.
He also warned that no company should prioritise its corporate reputation over human lives and dignity.
Meanwhile, SaharaReporters reported that its attempts to contact GUO Logistics for comments were unsuccessful. Calls to the company’s listed mobile number went unanswered, while a text message had received no response at the time of publication.
