Liverpool manager Arne Slot has stated that club legend Mohamed Salah deserves a memorable send-off as he prepares to leave Anfield at the end of the season.
Salah, who picked up an injury during Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace, initially sparked fears of having played his final game for the club. The Egyptian forward was visibly emotional as he left the pitch to a standing ovation from fans.
However, the club has since confirmed that the injury is minor, with Slot expressing optimism that the 33-year-old will return before the season concludes though he will miss the upcoming clash against Manchester United.
Speaking ahead of the crucial fixture, Slot described Salah as a “quick healer” and emphasized the importance of having him back before the campaign ends.
“In all ways, it’s a big relief that his injury is not serious. If there’s any player who deserves a proper farewell, it’s definitely Salah,” he said.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has scored an impressive 257 goals in 440 appearances, placing him among the club’s all-time top scorers behind legends like Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

Despite a brief fallout with Slot earlier in the season, the forward has remained a key figure in the squad.
Liverpool, currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table, are pushing to secure a top-five finish that guarantees qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
With four games left, Slot stressed that returning to Europe’s elite competition remains a priority after a turbulent campaign.
The manager also provided a positive update on goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is nearing a return to training after being sidelined since March.
As the season winds down, all eyes will be on Salah’s return and the potential farewell one of Liverpool’s greatest modern icons truly deserves.
