The Bayelsa State Police Command has vowed to intensify its crackdown on cult groups and their sponsors following concerns over cult-related attacks and reprisal killings in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, directed Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to increase patrols in vulnerable areas and act swiftly on credible intelligence concerning cult clashes, initiation ceremonies and recruitment activities.
The command also said it would strengthen collaboration with community leaders to identify emerging tensions and prevent violence before it occurs.

The police warned that anyone found organising, financing, supporting or participating in cult-related crimes would be investigated and prosecuted, regardless of their status or influence.
Residents were urged to avoid reprisal attacks, harbouring suspects or spreading rumours that could worsen tensions. Parents and guardians were also advised to warn their children and wards against involvement in cult activities.
The command encouraged residents to report suspicious activities and planned attacks through the emergency lines 07034578208 and 09167322691.
