
Police in Bayelsa State have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 40-year-old mobile phone repair technician, identified as Felix, whose body was discovered in a guest house in Yenagoa.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning after hotel staff found Felix’s lifeless body in a room at a guest house along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of the state capital. According to preliminary findings, the deceased had checked into the facility with an unidentified woman on Wednesday night.
When the body was discovered, the woman was nowhere to be found, prompting police to begin efforts to trace her as part of the ongoing investigation.

The discovery attracted traders and residents from the nearby shopping complex where Felix operated his phone repair business. Witnesses said alcoholic drink sachets were found inside the room before officers arrived to evacuate the body.
Authorities also questioned the guest house owner, the cleaner who discovered the body, and Felix’s younger brother. His brother was later released after explaining how he came into possession of the deceased’s mobile phone.
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed that detectives have commenced a preliminary investigation to determine the cause of death and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers are also working to identify and locate the woman who accompanied Felix to the guest house.
Police said no official conclusion has been reached regarding the cause of death, and the outcome of an autopsy is still being awaited as investigations continue.
