
The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced plans for his final burial rites, which will end on June 18 in his hometown in Abia State.
Ekubo passed away on May 11 following a battle with kidney cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
In a funeral notice posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, the family thanked the public for their support and prayers while asking for continued strength for his wife and loved ones during the difficult period.
According to the burial programme, a service of songs will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, from 4pm to 6pm, with guests expected to wear white.
The funeral activities will continue in Abia State, where a wake is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at the Ekubo family residence, 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu.

The funeral service and interment will take place on Thursday, June 18, at Mary Slessor School in Arochukwu, after which the actor will be buried at his family home.
A reception will immediately follow at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, with attendees also requested to dress in white.
Known for his charisma and memorable performances in several Nollywood productions, Ekubo built a strong reputation within Nigeria’s film industry and beyond. His death has continued to draw tributes as fans and colleagues celebrate his impact on Nigerian cinema.
