Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Industries, has officially petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged corruption involving Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The Dangote Group said the petition was submitted following the withdrawal of an earlier complaint filed with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The shift to the EFCC was described as a strategic move to speed up investigation and prosecution.
Dangote had previously accused Ahmed of abuse of office and personal enrichment, claiming that around $5 million was spent on his children’s secondary education in Switzerland.

While the ICPC had begun probing the matter, the complaint was later withdrawn.
In the new petition, signed by Dangote’s lead lawyer, Dr. O.J. Onoja, the billionaire urged the EFCC to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecute Ahmed if the allegations are confirmed.
The development adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding the former petroleum regulator, as Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies continue to scrutinize the claims.
