A former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct nPDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has faulted Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s claim that politicians are behind the rise in banditry across the country.
He described Kalu’s allegation as “disgraceful and unsubstantiated,” arguing that such statements only reflect the political sycophancy damaging Nigeria’s political space. Eze insisted that, instead of pointing fingers, Kalu should boldly confront President Bola Tinubu on what he called the administration’s failures in tackling insecurity.
Questioning the logic behind the claims, Eze wondered how anyone “in a sane frame of mind” would assume that opposition figures are sponsoring violence to weaken the government. He urged Kalu to offer honest advice to the President and stop deflecting responsibility.
Extending the criticism to Adams Oshiomhole, who echoed similar sentiments, Eze said the tragic loss of innocent lives shows that the government has failed to protect citizens. He argued that the situation is not a politically calculated plot, but a sign of leadership failure.
Eze challenged both senators to publicly identify the alleged political sponsors of insecurity, saying their refusal to name names implies either cowardice or complicity.
He added that, rather than blaming imaginary forces within and outside the country, the focus should be on genuine solutions to Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
