Fire Ravages Factory in Anambra, Causes Massive Losses

A fire outrage at a diaper manufacturing factory in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday destroyed property worth millions of naira.

Fire Chief of the Anambra Fire Service, Mr. Chukwudi Chiketa, told newsmen in Onitsha that the quick response of fire personnel prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby gas plant.

Although some buildings within the factory were affected, Chiketa confirmed that firefighters successfully contained the fire, minimizing further damage. He added that no casualties were recorded, and investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by a suspected explosion at the facility.

Obinna Okoye, an eyewitness, said the fire began around 5:30 a.m., catching the neighbourhood by surprise as most residents were still asleep. He praised the firefighters for their swift action, which prevented the blaze from spreading to surrounding buildings.
