The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has reportedly been hospitalised after collapsing and experiencing bleeding while in detention.
A source close to the actress raised the alarm in a video shared with SaharaReporters on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
The associate disclosed that he had spoken with Ogala on the telephone after she was admitted to a hospital, adding that he was allowed to communicate with her.
According to him, Ogala said she lost consciousness, experienced bleeding and could not remember when she was taken to the hospital.
In the video, Ogala was also heard confirming her condition, saying she was bleeding and that her health had deteriorated following an operation.
She reportedly expressed frustration while speaking about her medical condition and the circumstances surrounding her hospitalisation.
The development has raised concerns about her health, particularly as she remains in detention over criminal charges filed against her.
Also reacting to the situation, AAC presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, condemned her continued detention and called for her immediate release.
Sowore questioned why government resources were being used to prosecute a dispute involving Ogala and her former partner, describing the matter as a private disagreement.

He also pointed out that Ogala is the AAC’s governorship candidate in Abia State and alleged that the circumstances surrounding her prosecution required further investigation.
Sowore further criticised the handling of the case and called on Justice Akintayo Aluko, who is presiding over the matter, to ensure that Ogala’s rights were protected.
He also demanded the release of other detained individuals, including activist Agogo and himself.
Ogala’s arrest and prosecution followed a public dispute involving Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.
The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation reportedly filed criminal charges against her over allegations of cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion.
The prosecution alleged that Ogala shared intimate photographs of the cleric without his consent, circulated allegedly false electronic messages and threatened to release additional materials unless certain demands were met.
However, Ogala pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She was subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after appearing before the Federal High Court.
The court is expected to deliver its ruling on her bail application on Friday, November 6, 2026.
