Blaqbonez Says Travelling Abroad Opened His Eyes to Nigeria’s Developmental Challenges -

Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has said that travelling abroad and gaining exposure to other countries made him realise how far Nigeria lags behind in terms of development.

The rapper described Nigeria as a “hectic” country, expressing his desire not to spend the rest of his life living in the country, particularly after retirement.

Blaqbonez made the remarks during a recent appearance on The Zeze Millz Show, where he spoke about his experiences abroad and his thoughts on Nigeria’s current state of development.

According to the music star, although Nigeria presents significant challenges, the country’s vibrant atmosphere and the determination of its people remain important sources of motivation.

He noted that exposure to other countries had helped him appreciate the gap between Nigeria’s current condition and the level of development he believes the country should have attained.

“Nigeria is hectic, but it is still home. When you go to other countries, you will realise how far we are from where we should be. But the vibe and energy are still there. There is a hustle spirit that comes with being Nigerian. I really wish the country was better,” he said.

The rapper further explained that his vision for retirement involves living on a large ranch and raising animals, a lifestyle he does not believe is readily achievable for him in Nigeria.

“I don’t want to spend the rest of my life living in Nigeria. I don’t think that there is any successful person who wants to live in Nigeria after retirement. Maybe there are some people. But the way I picture my retirement is living in a big ranch and raising some animals. That is not a thing that is in Nigeria,” he added.

Despite his criticisms, Blaqbonez acknowledged that the difficulties of Nigerian society have also strengthened his determination to work harder and pursue greater success.

His comments have once again drawn attention to conversations surrounding Nigeria’s development, living conditions, infrastructure and the desire among some Nigerians to seek better opportunities and lifestyles abroad.
