The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed former House of Representatives member Ifeanyi Ibezi as its Anambra State campaign coordinator ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ibezi, who previously supported Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), recently left the party to join the NDC.
His defection took place during a rally attended by a large crowd, with the new appointment expected to strengthen the party’s campaign activities across Anambra State.
Following his appointment, Ibezi called on residents to support the NDC’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and help secure a significant number of valid votes for him in his home state.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Ibezi said Anambra had a special responsibility in the campaign because Obi comes from the state.
He stressed that the party’s goal should go beyond winning the state, adding that efforts must be made to achieve a strong electoral mandate for the presidential candidate.

Ibezi also urged the campaign team to reach undecided voters, people dissatisfied with the political system and those who had stopped participating in elections because they doubted the impact of their votes.
He said the campaign would focus on listening to residents, earning their trust and encouraging them to take part in the electoral process.
The NDC coordinator outlined plans to extend the campaign across Anambra’s 21 local government areas, 326 wards and 5,720 polling units, as well as markets, churches and households.
He added that the party would work to mobilise voters and ensure that every valid vote counted during the 2027 elections.
