The Osun State Police Command has declared a factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Nurudeen Alowonle, wanted in connection with the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, disclosed this on Monday while parading suspects arrested for various criminal offences at the command headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to the police, six suspects have been arrested in connection with Emir’s killing, which occurred on September 13, 2026, at a motor park in Ile-Ife.
Those arrested reportedly include Alowonle’s personal assistant and an operative of the Osun Amotekun Corps. The police also declared another NURTW chief, Adeyemi Ojo, popularly known as Sibi, wanted over the incident.
Zungura said preliminary investigations and statements obtained from some suspects allegedly linked Alowonle and Ojo to the killing. However, the allegations have not been established in court.
The commissioner disclosed that one of the suspects, Hammed Olalekan Dauda, also known as Jagaban, was arrested with a locally made, cut-to-size firearm. He allegedly told investigators that the weapon was given to him by Alowonle.

In a separate development, the police announced the arrest of six suspects over an alleged motorcycle robbery along the Ile-Ife–Ibadan Expressway.
The commissioner also confirmed the arrest of Oniyefa Olayemi in connection with a violent clash between rival groups at Alapa Village, along Toro Road in Ile-Ife, which reportedly claimed four lives.
The police said the clash, allegedly linked to a dispute over control of a cocoa farm, occurred between October 4 and 5, 2026. Several firearms, ammunition and other items were reportedly recovered from the scene.
The Osun State Police Command urged residents to continue providing useful information to support efforts to combat crime across the state.
