
The Abia State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers and rescued an 18-year-old girl, Ifeoma Obinna, in Umuimo Community, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the operation followed a distress call received by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on October 4, 2026, after an unidentified caller allegedly demanded ₦5 million from the victim’s mother, Mrs Obinna, for her daughter’s release.
Acting on the information, police operatives reportedly launched an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of three suspects and the successful rescue of the teenager.
The suspects were identified as Chidozie Rainbow Hezekiah, 65; Brave Rainbow, 21; and Innocent Otodirichu, 21.

The police said two daggers and the victim’s mobile phone were recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing as police operatives work to identify and apprehend other suspects allegedly connected to the kidnapping syndicate.
