A 25-year-old businessman and newlywed, Lovely Chukwulobelu, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, for allegedly attempting to traffic cocaine to Portugal.
According to the NDLEA, Chukwulobelu was intercepted on Thursday, September 25, while preparing to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Portugal via Addis Ababa.
The agency said 72 wraps of cocaine were concealed in his stomach.
The suspect, who reportedly lives in Portugal, had returned to Nigeria and got married on September 13, 2026.

During questioning, he allegedly told investigators that he turned to drug trafficking to offset expenses incurred during his wedding.
The NDLEA said he was placed under excretion observation and subsequently expelled all 72 wraps of cocaine.
The agency also reported several other drug seizures and arrests across Lagos, Bauchi, Edo, Oyo and other locations, including large consignments of cannabis, tramadol, tapentadol and nitrous oxide.
NDLEA officials said investigations into the various cases are ongoing.
