Residents of Sai community in Benue State have reported seeing a helicopter over the area several hours after a deadly attack in which two people were allegedly killed.
The attack reportedly occurred over the weekend, although the state police command has not confirmed the exact number of casualties.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, Peter Orchia, said he could not confirm the casualty figure. However, residents identified Upaa Ikyaave and Boiyo Tyonor as victims of the attack.
According to the residents, an aircraft appeared over Sai community some hours after the incident. They said they could not determine the reason for the helicopter’s presence.
Residents also claimed that a similar aircraft had been sighted over Ayilamo, where six police officers and at least seven civilians were recently killed in separate attacks within one week by suspected terrorists.

Meanwhile, suspected bandits have reportedly killed the village head of Lafagu in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The traditional ruler, Sa’idu Mujeli, popularly known as Sarkin Lafagu, was reportedly killed during an attack on the community on Saturday morning.
The incident was disclosed by Northwest crisis reporter Bakatsine in a post on X.
Authorities have not publicly linked the reported helicopter sightings to the attacks, while details surrounding the incidents remain limited.
