The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested several suspects and recovered 300 rounds of ammunition and three locally made firearms during separate operations across the state.
The command said its operatives also prevented a suspected kidnapping attempt in Makarfi Local Government Area.
The first incident occurred around 1:15 am on September 20, when suspected bandits attacked a resident in Gimi Ward, Makarfi Local Government Area.
Police officers from the Makarfi Division, supported by local vigilantes, responded to the distress call and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.
The police said the attackers were forced to flee into the bush after the operatives overpowered them.
One of the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Usman Alhaji Dahiru, was injured and arrested.
A locally made rifle containing three live cartridges, a locally made pistol with one live round and a bag containing charms were reportedly recovered from him.

In a separate operation on September 21, police arrested Jude Magaji of Ungwan Asibiti following intelligence that he was allegedly carrying a locally fabricated pistol and intimidating residents.
Operatives of the Gwantu Division reportedly tracked him down and recovered the firearm.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into how he obtained the weapon and whether it had been used in any criminal activity.
Meanwhile, police also arrested two suspected arms traffickers, identified as Rayyanu Adamu and Nasiru Abubakar, during an intelligence-led operation around Giwa Local Government Area and the railway station axis.
The suspects were arrested on September 22 after detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit conducted surveillance in the area.
A search reportedly led to the recovery of 270 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 30 rounds of Type 06 ammunition, bringing the total number of recovered rounds to 300.
The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the source and intended destination of the ammunition and identify other individuals allegedly connected to the suspected arms trafficking operation.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the officers and vigilantes involved in the operations.
He directed security operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend fleeing suspects and urged residents to provide credible information that could assist the police in tackling criminal activities across the state.
