Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council after her name appeared on the party’s list of members for the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abraham, reacting to the published list on Thursday, said she was not a member of the campaign council and asked the public to disregard her reported inclusion, stressing that she had decided to stay out of politics.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.
Her name was contained in a campaign council structure released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday, alongside several prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, veteran actor Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was named Secretary, while Dare Olateju was listed as Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainers named in the directorate include Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Bimbo Akintola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi and Foluke Daramola.

The list also features Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika, Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa, and Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor.
Abraham’s rejection creates a clear distinction between her name appearing in the campaign council document and her stated position on political participation. She has maintained that she did not join the council and does not want to participate in its activities.
The actress subsequently provided a further clarification, saying she woke up to discover her name on a list she knew nothing about and reiterated that her decision was not motivated by criticism from political opponents or social media users.
The Lagos APC Campaign Council was scheduled for formal inauguration on September 18 at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja, as the party begins preparations for the 2027 elections.
