Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have killed several terrorists and recovered AK-47 rifles, RPG bombs, ammunition and other military equipment during operations in Borno State.
The operations also foiled separate attacks on two Forward Operating Bases in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area, and Mairari, Guzamala Local Government Area.
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Goni said troops on September 17 detected terrorists advancing towards the Forward Operating Base in Gajiram, following intelligence support from the Multinational Joint Task Force.

He said the troops immediately adopted defensive measures while the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI provided close air support.
According to him, the terrorists withdrew from the area after encountering the coordinated response from the troops.
Later that night, terrorists identified by the military as Islamic State West Africa Province fighters attacked the Mairari base.
The attackers reportedly met stiff resistance from the troops, who were supported by close air operations.
Goni said the attack was successfully contained, with casualties inflicted on the terrorists.
He added that troops later recovered four bodies of the attackers, alongside AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, RPG bombs and a camcorder.
Some soldiers were injured during the engagement and were stabilised before being airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the attacks, the Commander of Sector 3, Operation HADIN KAI, conducted an assessment of the affected locations.
The military subsequently reinforced the bases while troops continued operations in surrounding areas to prevent the terrorists from regrouping.
Meanwhile, two members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, including a Qaid, or commander, also surrendered to troops in Borno State.
The two terrorists surrendered to troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI, along the Miyanti-Darel Jamel axis in Bama Local Government Area on September 16.
They reportedly surrendered with three AK-47 rifles, five magazines, a motorcycle and a quantity of ammunition.
The suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling.
The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, North East, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, commended the troops and other personnel involved in the operations.
Ajose reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining operations against terrorist groups and protecting communities across the North-East.
He also urged terrorists still in the bush to surrender through established channels and called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces.
