The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and arrested seven suspected members of kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates in separate operations across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the statement, two suspected kidnappers, Victor Onwuka, also known as “Bugatti,” and 30-year-old Madukaife Chidiebere Kenechukwu, were arrested on August 16 at Akpukpokelemu Village, Nimo, in Njikoka Local Government Area.
The suspects were allegedly involved in the abduction of a victim who was held captive for three days at a criminal hideout.
Police said the suspects allegedly withdrew N7 million from the victim’s bank accounts during his captivity before escaping with his Toyota Highlander SUV.
The command said the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed to the crime and were later identified by the victim.
Police added that the suspects were assisting investigators in identifying other members of the kidnapping syndicate who remain at large.
In a separate operation on September 15, police arrested five suspects allegedly linked to an armed robbery syndicate involved in the theft of a TVS tricycle.
The tricycle, with registration number ASB595VD, was reportedly stolen by armed men in April 2026 at Asaba, Delta State.
Police said open-source intelligence led to the arrest of the first suspect, 38-year-old Nwakpa Friday. Operatives subsequently recovered the stolen tricycle at Old Road, Nkpor, Anambra State.
Four other suspects allegedly connected to the robbery syndicate were later arrested. They were identified as Sylvester Nteshi, 53; Nwuzor Livinus, 35; Mgbom Uche, 27; and Chiweuba Chukwudi, 42.

The police said all seven suspects and the recovered tricycle remained in custody as investigations continued.
The command said investigators were working to determine the roles allegedly played by the suspects and arrest other members of the syndicates still at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the operatives for their efforts and reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and other violent crimes.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing and investigating criminal activities.
