The operation, carried out by troops of 1 Battalion, 8 Division, Sector 2, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, followed days of sustained tracking and surveillance of the terrorist group.
During the encounter, troops recovered a cache of weapons and other items believed to be linked to the group. The recovered items included a PKT machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, rifle magazines and several bandoliers of ammunition.
