The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over allegations that ₦700,000 was collected from each of six families in connection with efforts to secure the release of their sons.
One of the suspects, identified as Justice Ozobi, was reportedly arrested in Anambra State alongside an accomplice and brought to the Ebonyi State Police Command for questioning.
The development followed allegations made against the Commissioner of Police regarding the alleged collection of the money. The police had earlier dismissed the claims as false and misleading.
According to the command, Ozobi allegedly used a photograph of a former Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State while making the allegations, which the police said exposed the retired officer to public ridicule and embarrassment.

The police said investigations are ongoing and promised to provide further updates as the case progresses.
