
A commercial bus driver identified as Ibrahim has reportedly died after suddenly collapsing near Apete Garage in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at about 6:30pm after the driver, said to be in his mid-fifties, was returning from Sango with passengers along the Apete-Sango route.
Eyewitnesses said Ibrahim had crossed Apete Bridge when his bus reportedly developed a fault and stopped a short distance from Apete Garage.
He was said to have stepped out of the vehicle to inspect the problem while some passengers also came down to assist in pushing the bus.
However, the driver reportedly collapsed while efforts were being made to get the vehicle moving again.

Residents and other commercial drivers were said to have rushed to the scene after passengers raised the alarm, but Ibrahim was reportedly confirmed dead before medical assistance could be obtained.
Witnesses expressed shock over the incident, noting that the driver had appeared normal and had been driving without any visible signs of distress moments earlier.
The cause of his sudden death had not been established as of the time of the report.
Apete and Sango are busy areas in Ibadan, particularly because of their proximity to The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and the large number of students, residents and commuters who use the transport routes daily.
