A generator malfunction triggered a fire outbreak at a petrol filling station in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State, with firefighters successfully preventing the incident from spreading across the facility.
The incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Tukur Muhd Nig. Limited, located along Saya Saya Road, Rano.
According to the Kano State Fire Service, the emergency was reported by the station manager, Abubakar Umar, who contacted the Rano Fire Station after noticing the fire at the premises.
Firefighters were immediately deployed to the location and discovered that the blaze had started from a Mikano generator. The fire subsequently affected the rear tyres of a Canter vehicle, which were slightly burnt.

The responding firefighters were able to bring the situation under control before the flames could spread to other sections of the filling station, potentially preventing a more serious incident.
The Kano State Fire Service attributed the outbreak to a fault in the generator and confirmed that no casualty was recorded.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents and business owners to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent fire incidents.
He also advised premises owners to provide functional fire extinguishers and ensure that appropriate fire-safety measures are maintained at all times.
The incident serves as another reminder of the importance of regular maintenance of generators and strict adherence to fire-safety precautions, particularly at petrol stations and other facilities handling highly flammable materials.
