
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspected vandals and recovered a truckload of suspected stolen iron rods in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.
The suspects were reportedly arrested while allegedly transporting iron poles believed to have been stolen and intended for the construction of telecommunication masts.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Shaibu, 26; Musa Zakari, 29; Abdullahi Bala, 22; Salisu Musa, 18; and Yahuza Bala, 20.
The arrests and recovery were made as part of the command’s intensified efforts to tackle the vandalism and theft of critical infrastructure across Lagos.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspects are currently in police custody.

The case is being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, while discreet investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspects allegedly connected to the operation.
The command also acknowledged the support of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, noting that the cooperation between both security agencies contributed significantly to the arrests.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and bringing those involved in vandalism to justice.
He urged residents to provide credible information about suspicious activities in their communities to assist security agencies in preventing further attacks on critical infrastructure.
