
A 19-year-old woman, identified as Asamau Saleh, has been killed while two others sustained gunshot injuries following an attack on Gana Ropp village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, after troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), responded to a distress call about an ongoing attack in the community.
According to security sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama, troops arrived at the scene and discovered that Asamau Saleh had been shot dead by the attackers.
Two other victims, Aminu Saleh, 26, and Stephen Monday, 28, were also shot during the attack and sustained gunshot injuries.
The injured victims were evacuated by the troops and taken to Barkin Ladi General Hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, security personnel launched a manhunt for the attackers as efforts continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over the security situation in Barkin Ladi and other parts of Plateau State, where communities have continued to face attacks and security threats.
Security authorities are expected to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further attacks in the affected communities.
