The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in separate operations across the state and rescued a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted in Gidan Madi Town, Tangaza Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the police, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Abdullahi Buba, also known as “Osho,” on August 8, 2026, during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Tudun Doki Village, Gwadabawa LGA.
The command said preliminary investigations indicated that Buba was allegedly a member of a kidnapping syndicate involved in kidnappings and the collection of illegal levies from communities in Gwadabawa, Kware and Gada local government areas.
In a separate operation, police rescued 10-year-old Muhammad Sufiyanu after his uncle, Sani Ibrahim, reported him missing at Gidan Madi Police Station on August 11.

Police said surveillance detectives later intercepted two persons on a motorcycle carrying a concealed sack. The suspects reportedly fled when challenged, abandoning the sack.
The boy was found inside the sack alive and was taken to Gidan Madi General Hospital for treatment before being discharged.
The police said one suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident and had confessed to the alleged crime.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, commended the officers involved and urged residents to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
The command said investigations into the cases are ongoing.
