The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a man identified as Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an officer of the commission and obtaining N3 million through false pretence.
Dahiru was arrested by operatives of the EFCC Maiduguri Zonal Directorate at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following intelligence received by the anti-graft agency.
According to the EFCC, the suspect allegedly posed as one of its officials and used the false identity to deceive unsuspecting members of the public and obtain money from them.

The commission said N3 million was recovered from Dahiru at the time of his arrest.
The arrest, according to the EFCC, forms part of its ongoing efforts to tackle financial fraud and curb the activities of individuals who impersonate its officials to defraud members of the public.
The agency stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The EFCC has repeatedly warned members of the public to be cautious of individuals who falsely claim to be its officials and demand money under various pretences.
