The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals following a targeted intelligence-led operation in Osogbo, as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime across the state.
The operation, carried out around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, focused on a known criminal hotspot near Ede Junction.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the raid was executed under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, as part of routine surveillance and enforcement activities.
The suspects identified as Musa Taoreed, popularly known as “Toyo,” Musa Muritala Akinde, and Muri Akinni were apprehended during the exercise.
Authorities confirmed that the individuals are currently in custody while investigations continue to ascertain their level of involvement in various alleged criminal activities.
Police officials emphasized that the raid forms part of intensified intelligence-driven operations aimed at preventing crime, safeguarding lives and property, and maintaining law and order across Osun State.
The Command further clarified that such operations are part of a broader, long-term security strategy that will be sustained before and after the upcoming governorship election.

It dismissed claims suggesting any political undertone, stressing that the initiative is strictly professional and focused on public safety.
“The operations are not targeted at any individual, group, or political party. They are purely aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring peace for all residents,” the statement noted.
The Police Command also raised concerns over attempts by certain individuals and groups to politicize lawful security activities, warning that such narratives could mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.
CP Gotan urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against late-night outings, suspicious gatherings, and association with individuals of questionable character.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, neutrality, and the rule of law, the Command assured the public that all operations will continue to be conducted without bias and in the collective interest of maintaining peace and security throughout the state.
