The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State has arrested four suspects over the alleged theft of aluminium roofing sheets from the School of Nursing in Hadejia.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the NSCDC’s Gandun Sarki Division during a surveillance patrol aimed at protecting critical national assets and public infrastructure.
According to the command’s spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the suspects were arrested behind the school’s perimeter fence while allegedly attempting to remove roofing materials from the institution, which is currently undergoing renovation.
Authorities said 13 square metres of aluminium roofing sheets believed to have been stolen from the school were recovered during the operation.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Mohammed, a security guard attached to the school; Dan Inu Mohammed, a carpenter; Isma’ila Adamu, a tricycle operator; and Bashari Yahaya, an apprentice.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects was part of the school’s security personnel, raising concerns about lapses in the institution’s internal security system.

The NSCDC said it has notified the management of the School of Nursing, Hadejia, about the identified security weaknesses and advised the institution to strengthen its security measures to prevent similar incidents.
Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Ingawa, reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting public infrastructure and tackling vandalism across the state.
He warned individuals involved in theft, vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage to desist, stressing that the command would continue to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering and enforcement operations to ensure offenders are brought to justice.
