The Plateau State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the mob killing of Ibrahim Mbaya, a University of Jos graduate and model popularly known as “Ibee.”
Police authorities disclosed that investigations revealed six people allegedly took part in the attack, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two suspects.
According to the command, officers received information from a concerned resident that a young man had been rushed to the hospital after suffering severe injuries during an assault. Despite medical efforts, the victim later died from the injuries he sustained.
Following the report, detectives launched an investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects. Police said the suspects allegedly admitted to playing different roles in the incident during questioning. A fourth suspect was later apprehended as the investigation progressed.
The police identified one of the principal suspects as Emmanuel Newyear, who is alleged to have attacked the victim with a wooden plank. Another suspect, Joshua Tell, was also taken into custody.
The command said it is working closely with leaders of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to ensure everyone linked to the killing is identified and brought to justice. Representatives of the student body reportedly attended the public parade of the arrested suspects as a sign of their condemnation of the incident.

Police warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that anyone suspected of committing an offence should be handed over to security agencies for proper investigation and prosecution.
The command also appealed to residents to provide useful information that could help investigators track down the remaining suspects, assuring the public that all information received would be treated confidentially.
The killing has sparked widespread outrage in Jos, with residents and civil society groups calling for justice and stronger measures to end mob violence across Plateau State.
