Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 22 suspects and rescued two minors during a coordinated raid on suspected drug dens and criminal hideouts in Ozoro and Abraka communities.
The operation, carried out on July 21, was based on credible intelligence and forms part of the command’s intensified crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and related criminal activities across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the raid was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations. The targeted locations included Ofagbe Community in Ozoro, as well as Ekrejeta and the NUT area in Abraka.
A total of 22 suspects—19 males and three females—were apprehended for offences linked to the sale, possession, and distribution of illicit substances.

During the operation, police also rescued two minors found in a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father. The children have since been placed in protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper care and safeguarding.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the discovery of minors in such an environment as “deeply disturbing.” He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and protecting vulnerable individuals.
The police further urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and useful information, assuring residents that intelligence-led operations will continue across Delta State to combat drug-related crimes.
Investigations into the activities of the arrested suspects are currently ongoing.
